# Facebook Messenger

> Connect your agent to your Facebook Page so it answers Messenger messages automatically.

Your agent can reply to messages sent to your Facebook Page, from Facebook, the Messenger app, or an `m.me` link. You connect it by signing in with Facebook; no developer account or app review is needed. Messenger is available on every plan, including Free.

  You need a Facebook Page and admin access to it. Personal profiles can't be connected.

## Connect Messenger

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start the connection">
    Open your agent, click **Channels**, and click **Connect** on **Facebook Messenger**. Facebook's sign-in window opens.

  <Step title="Choose your Page">
    Sign in with the Facebook account that manages your Page, approve the permissions, and select the Pages the agent should answer for.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send a test message">
    Message your Page from another account, or open `m.me/YourPageName`, and ask a question.

## Manage your Pages

Once connected, open the Messenger card to see **Manage Facebook Pages**: every connected Page with its status and a switch to pause it. **Connect a New Facebook Page** adds another Page.

Your [actions](/docs/agents/actions) work on Messenger, and conversations appear in [**Conversations**](/docs/agents/conversations) under **Messenger**. The agent answers text messages.

## Tips

* Train the agent on the questions your Page inbox gets most: opening hours, prices, bookings, shipping.
* Tell it in the [instructions](/docs/agents/instructions-and-model#instructions) what to do when it doesn't know, for example "Say a team member will reply during business hours."
* To take over a conversation, pause the Page on the manage page and reply from your Page inbox.

Instagram direct messages aren't an agent channel.
