Materials
Storybooks in Chinese (e.g., "The Little Red Riding Hood", "The Three Little Pigs")
Chart paper and markers
Story elements graphic organizer (character, setting, plot)
Story sequence graphic organizer (events)

Procedure
Introduction (10 minutes)
Begin the lesson by asking students if they enjoy reading stories.
Discuss the importance of understanding the main elements of a story, such as characters, setting, and plot.
Explain that today, we will be learning how to understand a story in Chinese.
Main Activities (30 minutes)
Read a selected storybook in Chinese (e.g., "The Little Red Riding Hood") to the students.
As you read, pause at different points to discuss the story elements.
Identify the main characters and their characteristics.
Discuss the setting (where and when the story takes place).
Identify the main events of the plot and their sequence.
Write down the identified story elements on the chart paper.
Provide each student with a story elements graphic organizer.
Ask students to fill in the graphic organizer with the characters, setting, and plot of the story you just read together.
Allow students to work individually or in pairs.
Check their graphic organizers for accuracy and provide feedback.
Closure (10 minutes)
Engage in a class discussion about the story they just learned.
Ask students to explain the sequence of events in the story.
Ask students to determine the main idea or moral of the story.
Write down their responses on the chart paper.
Provide each student with a story sequence graphic organizer.
Ask students to fill in the graphic organizer with the main events of the story in the correct sequence.
Allow students to work individually or in pairs.
Check their graphic organizers for accuracy and provide feedback.
Assessment
Observe students' participation and understanding during the class discussion and activities.
Evaluate completed graphic organizers for accuracy and comprehension.
Extension Activities
Ask students to retell the story in their own words, using the completed graphic organizers as a reference.
Encourage students to write a short paragraph summarizing the story in Chinese.
