A dispute between two 6th graders about soccer, one claiming he is a better play than the other although it is obviously not true.
Acte 1, Scène 1 : Un terrain de soccer
(Entre BEN et SAM, deux 6e classifiants)
BEN:
Hark! Prithee, hear my noble claim,
I, Ben, the greatest player in this game!
My skills exceed all others on this field,
A truth that none can argue or appeal.
SAM:
Hold thy tongue, fair Ben, for thou art wrong!
Thine boasts, mere falsehoods, deceitful and long.
'Tis I, young Sam, who reigns supreme,
A talent unmatched, a soccer dream.
BEN:
Thou speaketh nonsense, dear Sam, indeed!
In what world art thou greater than me?
Thy kicks, feeble and devoid of might,
Thy passes, lacking in both speed and height.
SAM:
Oh, Ben! Thou knowest not of what thou speak,
For my skills are strong, firm, and not weak.
I weave through defenders with grace and flair,
My shots, like arrows, find the net with care.
BEN:
Methinks thy words are but a hollow boast,
Thy dribbling skills, nonexistent at most.
Thou art no match for my supreme technique,
A master of the ball, I truly speak.
SAM:
Thy words, Ben, are but a fantasy,
A fabrication, pure fallacy.
I've seen thee play, thy talent's sparse at best,
Thy claims of greatness, mere jests.
BEN:
How dare thee challenge my greatness, Sam!
I'll prove myself the better, I truly am.
A match we shall play, with eyes as witness,
And I shall conquer thee, I do confess.
SAM:
So be it, Ben! Let the match decide,
Whose skills, whose talent, in truth shall preside.
But mark my words, dear friend, prepare to lose,
For I shall prove thy claims as mere abuse.
(Exit BEN and SAM, ready to settle their dispute on the soccer field)
