Lessons on Life's Trials for My Children

Original Prompt: Lessons for my Children. "The Trials of Life." I used to think that my number one job as a dad, was to protect my children from getting hurt. But as I look back now, it is only through pain that we grow and become who we are truly meant to be. In First Peter chapter one, verses 6 and 7, it says, “So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.” Notice it does not say you MAY have trials it says you MUST have them. It also does not say a FEW but MANY trials. Nobody wants to go through hard times but these “trials” are opportunities to put your faith and obedience to work. The verse goes on to say that “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold”. We all want the assurance to know that things are real. Our response to life’s trials (how we handle it, how much fear we feel, and who we turn to during the heat of the battle) shows not just us but others how strong or weak our faith is. The verse closes with “So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” Real life trials our opportunities for us to point others to Jesus.
